ECM vs Auto Trans troubleshooting 05 LE

ECM vs Auto Trans troubleshooting 05 LE

I have a 2005 Corolla LE, 23,000 mi, Automatic Transmission.

I have noticed recently that the Automatic Transmission feels like it engages "lightly" when I feather the brakes and disengages "lightly" when I release the brake feathering a second or two later, (like when coming to a stop at a stoplite).

I engaged/disengaged OD button to be sure I was in the normal (4 spd) driving mode. Checked trans oil. All OK.

Called dealer, Svc Mgr said it was probably the computer chip (ECM), and it may need flashing.
Bring it in when I can find a highway location they can replicate the symptoms.

Does this sound about right? Or shoud I be looking elswhere?

Thanks,

HW

PS: Have spent 25 years troubleshooting Windows for MS, now do I have to spend another 25 yrs troubleshooting Corollas for Toyota?
