Question Power mirror/switch install

My wifes car didn't come with power mirrors,so I decided to put some in.I already have the Oem switch and Oem powered mirrors.I thought that the car may already be pre-wired for the mirrors, but I don't see anything.Would a Haynes manual tell me what wires are what? or does sombody alrwady know? Thanks

Need model year and type. You might have to get a diffrent panel for the door that would make it look original, however i am not sure if it is located on the drivers door or on the dash/consol. A wiring harness from a car that came with the power windows would be helpful because on some cars they come with the wiring already there just no switch, and posibly with a fuse (if there is a place in the fuse box)

EDIT: I'm assuming a base 97 from his screen name.

You may need to tear down the door interior panel to see if the wire is already there. It may not be there. But you won't need to change the panel unless you decide to put in power windows.

If you look at the oem switch connector and find 8 positions (they should be numbered right on the plug), the pins are -

1-left side left/right
3-ground
4-left side up/down
5-right side left/right
6-right side up/down
7-common (connect to brown/red wire of mirror)
8-+12v

From my Haynes manual.

HTH and good luck.

Thannnnnnkkk yOUUUUUUUU! I had power windows put on her car along time ago,so I'm not worrired about that. I'm still waiting on the mirrors to arrive, how many wires will they have? Will the wires on the mirror match up(color)with the switch? I see that #8 is power,#3 ground? I assume that I would just need to run wires from the passengers side to hook up to the drivers side, then tie into the switch? Thanks

Don't worry. Probe the mirrors with +12V to be sure. There will be a third wire for common - you should know where to tie them.

Look at the plug, not at the switch. Flashlight helps.

Ok. I looked everywhere on the plug and didn't find any numbers. The plug wire colors are as followed.....One side has three places for wires, but they are only two and they are blue and white/blk The other side has five wires and are green,red,red/grn,brn/rd and gray.

Blue is #1
#2 is no wire
White/black is #3
Brown/red is #7

You can figure out the rest.

No problem,I'll post some pics. I got the mirrors today and they look great.I'm going to paint them a gloss black. The drivers is a flat black and the passengers is a gloss black, anyways I got both of them for 50.00(new) and the dealer wanted 75.00 for one. The mirrors have three wires a.... white, blue and yellow.Any ideas as to which of those wires go where? Thanks
