Console Compartment Door loose - 07 Corolla

Hello, I'm new here and I'd like to say Hi to everyone.

I bought a 2007 Corolla LE last year, and it's been awesome ever since. However, something's bugging me. On the center console (under the Heat/AC controls) are two compartments which swing open - the top one folds down, the bottom one swings out kind of like a tray. They have a certain resistance when you open them which keeps them from flying open when you, say, accelerate from a stop. Recently, the bottom one has lost this resistance and is very loose (it opens on its own now). I'm not a professional mechanic or anything, but I feel comfortable doing a little of my own work on things like this. So, I was wondering - has anyone else had trouble like this with the center console compartment doors? If so, any suggestions to fix it so the door stays shut when it's supposed to?

p.s. - if my description is poor, the part I'm talking about is the "Aux Box Type B" from the owner's manual.

thats warranty...take it to dealer they will most likely just replace the box.

That's probably what I'll do. I trust my own work more than the dealer's though, so I'd rather do it myself.

There's a tiny spring on both sides of the tray that might have popped off or the small plastic tab is broken...The whole panel is easy to pull out and check/fix...Lucky your cars still under warranty mine broke just after it expired and the dealer wanted $$$ to fix it...Both doors are actually cheaply made plastic
