Australia Idles too fast

Gooday everyone,
I have an AE82 that has run out of idle adjustment. I have replaced all vacuum lines and then I checked that the automatic choke is opening all the way when the engine is warmed up, but it is still idleing too fast. As a result it wants too 'diesel' when I switch the engine off. I am pretty sure the fuel cut solenoids are okay as I tested them manually and it sounds like they are 'clicking' fine. Thanks in advance for anyone who might have any ideas.

does that model have VSV's on the vacum lines?
still sounds like a vacum problem..

I have experimented with the timing by adjusting it anywhere between 5 degrees to 15 degrees to see if it makes much difference to the idle revs . It does make a small diference but not enough. Carb has been thoroughly cleaned.
To retiredat44, what are VSV's.
Thanx for the replys.

VSV's = vacum control switches (with electronics), some for emissions,, others for other stuff..

Dieseling and high idle are classic symptoms of advanced timing, but if you have already checked that, the next thing I'd check is for a vacuum leak.

Retiredat44 has a good idea with the VSVs.

Is your car carb or FI?
