95 rolla, overheating and more help please

ok, i didn't get to check out the car much, it's now on the side of the road. damn thing left me stranded.

anyway, i get out of work, my mom came to pick me up. when i got out she had the hood up. so i knew this couldn't be good.

she told me it died on her twice on the way to get me. the coolant was low, so i added some after it sat for a while.

when the car is on the "on" position you can hear a humming noise, you can feel it too(i was thinking fuel pump but damn... what everything decides to go at once?). then when the car starts, there is a rattle noise. argghhh so we are on the way home the car dies again. we pull over let it cool down. starts back up, and we are on our way.

now the rattling is louder(more like a ticking, i was thinking valves). the car has been smoking for a while now. i tried to get her to pull over so it could cool down again (temp was redlined) she thought ohh, when can make it home. ehh she was wrong. car dies again. and we walk the rest of the way.

classic white smoke out the exhaust... overheating... i'm thinking blown headgasket plus....

what do you guys think? i'm not used to working on toyotas.. and of course my car is down also... wow, why does this all have to happen at once

any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Josh

but what about the ticking, and the noise/vibration when the car is on "on" to me it seems like more than a head gasket.... i think we will be dumping this car :8o

Probably bearings, with all the over heating and water in the oil they wouldn't be happy.

Even if it is not the HG, you've probably damaged the engine. So either, time for rebuild/new engine or sell for a loss.

Could just be engine knock from overheating dudes. Dont scrap just yet. Head gasket will prob cost you about 900$-1500$ for a mechanic to do it, depending on your resources. I just put one on an 4AFE and it seems to be holding. I think it cost me about 350$ parts. Probably 900$-1500$of my own time. I am not a mechanic I am IT with a cheap set of tools. I had to manufacture a tool to take the crank pulley off. I think a head gasket can be done by a shadetree mechanic if they put the engine at TDC. Replace all the seals in the Felpro Kit. Shave the head(know how to use a feeler gauge, mine was .002 out), Pressure test the Head. You can unbolt the fuel intake and fi brace and push the manifold to the firewall. Follow the torque specs. 93 Geo 135,000 new head gasket and valve seals. Oh yeah? this is my first Toyo kinda diggin it, any highmileage dogs out there. How long do these transmissions last, I change the filter and fluid every 30,000.
