Has anybody been in a accident with at 01 corolla?

Im wondering how the 01 corolla holds up in a accident. I has in a minor fender bender, but nothing to bad. Im wondering how safe am I if I hit a car goinf 60MPH. How does the car hold up?

Pics are a plus.

ummm... wow. The car falls apart so easily! I had no idea it would do that. I thought that it would hold up a little better than that. wow

Then tell the IIHS they're blunt for crash testing cars for the purpose of consumer safety.

Speed doesn't kill, it's coming to a sudden stop that is going to hurt.

If 40mph would do that kind of damage to a compact car like this, then it would be safe to assume that the blunt force trauma coming from a 60mph crash will definitely be enough to kill you.

When I was in my acident, I was going about 5 Mph and the other guy was in a 98 jeep cherokee. He was going around 25 mph. He clipped my front passegenger side bumper. I felt the seat belt tug and I thought the car held up very well. Has anybody actually gotten into accident? it is one thing to watch it, but its one thing to be in it.

i damaged the driver side fender, corner light, driver side headlights, and of course the front bumper. the corners shattered but the housing held in place. there was minimal bend in the frame (front bumper laid about 1/2 inch lower on driver side compared to passenger side)

it was hit by a dodge caravan so i'd say it was decent.

you rarely run into something completely flat like that so some of the energy gets abosrbed going around whatever you're running into.

I hydroplaned into a telephone pole going like 60 in a 98 civic and it wasn't too bad, my bad was sore for a while. I was a lot better off than the telephone pole which got broken in half :-P (the civic was totalled though)

that and most of the time you can slow down a lot before you actually hit something so you're not actually hitting it at 60. you can slow down suprisingly fast.

I'm not supporting fast driving at all, most people don't have the reflexes or driving skill to do it, and you have to treat every other driver like they're the dumbest person to ever get in a car, but accidents aren't that bad if you're wearing your seat belt and stuff. but as soon as you go head on with someone else the impact speed doubles so remember that too.
