2002 Corolla CE rear speaker replacement

Does anyone have any info on replacing the speakers in the rear deck of a 2002 Corolla CE?

I just can't seem to figure out how to remove the speaker grills. I've tried prying them off, but that didn't work.

I would greatly appreciate some info from anyone who has replaced theirs or might know how it's done.

Thanks very much.

are you putting in aftermarket speakers?

anyway, you dont pry off the speaker grill. you take the whole dash trim off. that means you have to unscrew the three things there around the third brake light. pop the plastic part off first before you do it. you should remove the two headrests and you have to get the seatbelts out of the way.

by the way, if you are not using the rear speaker mounting brackets, i would like to buy them from you.

Thanks for replying.

Yes, I am planning to put aftermarket speakers in.

I do have one other question if you don't mind. I noticed that the seatbelts are running through the piece of trim. You mentioned getting the seatbelts out of the way. Will they have to be unscrewed/unbolted and removed?

I can't really say if I will still need the mounting brackets or not. It will probably be a week or two before I try to install them. I can get back to you about it if I end up not needing them.

nope, you dont need to unbolt or do anything complicated with the seat belts. if you look at the edge of the dash trim where your seatbelt is at, there is a cut so that you can slide your seat belt from the dash trim.

let me know if you will not need the adjusting brackets. i am dying to have it so i can install mine that requires it. the previous speakers (my first aftermarket speakers) came with adjusted mounting bracket so i chucked my factory brackets.
