What engine did it have originally?
The web is covered in info on how to do this. But anyway.

The a 20v engine will bolt in, but the dizzy will hit the fire wall, you either need to make a hole in the firewall or sort out another ignition system.

If you had a 4age then the stock fuel pump is fine. If not then you'll need a new pump and you'll have to sort out the fuel surge issues.

The gear box will be fine, Not sure on which box you have stock, you may need to hunt out a clutch/flywheel combo that will work.

You need a 20v ECU to run a 20v. (unless you go stand alone) if you get the factory ECU with a full loom then its no that hard to wire up.

Do a search on google/other toyota sites, there's plenty of info out there.

1. yes
2. yes
3. use the 20v ecu
4. I would
5. not that I'm aware of
6. getting the radiator pipes to the radiator is tricky
7. yes

yes, 20Vs are pretty sweet, a friend of mine has one in his AE86 and he can pull on my friend with a 2006 miata on the highway fairly easily.

I'm not all that knowledgable on the subject, I just had a friend that did it. I would search around for a different forum, I don't think there are that many AE86 guys on here, and I'm pretty sure there are whole forums dedicated to just that car.

This swap has been done so many times that Even Jeeves will say "Google it up" when you ask him.

Ask Dr. Tweak about it. he can give you all the specs you need to do the entire job, and he can build your harness.

why get a harness done by someone in the US when you have a local wiring master aka kpsxtyone?

I think that's pretty much it, you also need to extend the piping from the motor to the radiator.

That's just one of many possible soluitions to the water piping, and IMO not really the best.

that is the best bang for your buck. i don't like spending more money for a waterline relocator kit than the actual motor. also most DIY peeps who relocated the waterlines had cooling issues.

what would be the "BEST" way in your opinion punter?

There are many sites that have info on AE86 20v swaps. One of my favorites is www.Club4AG.com. Other sites are www.hachiroku.net , www.socal86.com , www.hachi-roku.com & www.ectoyotas.com
