I wonder if the SR5 auto OEM from aftermarket is also two core....

After cleaning up parts tonight many of the fins were just ready to fall out of my rad, my car has never ran hot, but rather than take any chances I may look into it. I'd rather find something a bit narrower with the hoses in the same positions so I can run my IC pipes down the side tho, anyone got any ideas on what else to try?

what about a fluidyne but smaller in size but thicker core...

or you could cut holes underneath the headlights in order to run the ic...

or you could run methanol....

well I kinda thought about it and decided if I couldn't get the two core I just get the OEM. Even with my crappy rad I've never come close to running hot. If for some reason it does run hot I can always add some Redline water wetter which works really good from what I've heard. Non of the aftermarket suppliers have a two core listed, they just have one model for all years/model RWD corolla. Funny thing is the Modine rad that I bought looks exaclty the same (going from memory) as the rad out of my '80 3TC that I used to own. I bought a Modine for it two years ago, and it was almost half the price. Anyways $224 +tax later, I have a really nice solid 100% copper replacement, it is a much more durable unit than the factory one, and cores can be ordered for it separately should I ever need one. Also has a lifetime guarantee.

Their are a couple of holes I could enlargen a little to run the IC pipes, but ya know I'm thinking of running with erl aquamist with 50/50 water/alcohol anyways. So maybe I won't need the IC

Something like the fluidyne would be nice, if their were no cost boundaries, I would for sure have a nice aluminum, 2 or 3 core, nice and compact with lot's of room down the side for an I/C or oil cooler, nice little electric fan, ya that would rock, maybe when I win the lottery.

neil,
check the TE73 (83 corolla sr-5 rwd). It has a smaller rad in it (i believe). My friend has one, i'll get him to measure the length for you, but i'm not sure if its a dual core or not.

the TE73 should be the same as my '80 3TC radiator, I'm guessing, but from 79-83 pretty much the same under the hood depending on wether 1.6 or 1.8L.

I do remember the rad looking an awful lot like the one I just put in my AE86, I don't think it was any shorter tho.
