Fog lights have a flat light output rather than the round spot of driving lights.

I find yellow fog lights very nice for rainy weather.
The yellow light is more easily seen by others so they tend to notice you before doing something stupid like changing lanes when you are almost next to them.

You can get special fog lamps with the yellow lenses, or just get standard white fogs and a pair of the Lumincs Yellow bulbs like I did.

I have looked into getting fog lights for my 01 corolla.

Unless you plan on spending 250 - 300 bucks(for OEM), forget it.

The lamps themselves are 200 for both

Then, you need the correct wiring and the stalk on the steering wheel.

I had one dealer quote me 350, and another 275.

I can't figure out whey they are so much.

I have a pair of prism lights. They are the same as the yellow fog lights, with the exception that the light is blue. When its foggy, they dont reflect any glare and it is much easier to see when using them. They are really good for roads that have no or limited street lights.
