Issues with intake

I ordered a standard air intake tube/filter etc. It came with everything I needed to set it up, but after having everything hooked up the engine kept bogging down and stalling. At first I had the air sensor backwards, and turning it around only kept the engine firing for another 5 seconds or so. As soon as i hit the gas it stopped sucking air and shut off. Anyone have any idea why it's not working? All hoses are connected and tight, so I have to idea!

yea i have a 01 prizm and it kept bogging down when i put my intake on...

can we have pics and also know what pieces you bought?

from what i've done with my car, the MAF sensor needs to be in a smaller area than like a 3" tube... mine is situated in a 2" 90degree PVC elbow that i got from HomeDepot and drilled and filed out a hole for the sensor...

yeah my next step was to get a smaller tube and try it out. I was just hoping that no one would confirm that for me. I'll try it this weekend, get some pics, and let you know if it works, thanks

also, it could be the size of your filter...

friend has a bigger filter he bought at pep-boys (its 2 inches longer than my filter) and it is too narrow for his hose so i tried it on the end of mine

and when i punch it from a stop it would bog down, then pick back up, then bog again

then i put mine back on and it runs perfect again
