AE92 4AF Questions

I have been reading over the info here about the 4AF but I keep getting diffrent anwsers for the same question. As it sits now I have an 88 sr5 with a stock 4af in it. What I want to know is what can be done to get power out of it without doing an engine swap(will be done in the future) I do plan on doing a swap in the future about 1 1/2 to 2 years down the road. For the time being I just want to get more umph for it. I have found headers that would bolt on to make the exhuast to a 2in. Not sure on what carbs to use, I'm use to fuel injection.

I have used the search and I get mixed anwsers from people just not sure what to do. I don't want to spend the money on forced injection on this if I plan on swaping it out in the future. I did happen to find a header catalic and muffler that would open up the exhaust to a 2in. Also how would you do a dual carb on this I have seen Flashmn's one. I do belive this would work for a carb http://www.webercarbsdirect.com/32_3...22680.033b.htm
As for google there is jack that is actually helpfull on this motor everyone says to do a 4age swap in it. But I won't have the time space or finances for it for over a year. I'm in the process of doing an EJ22E into a Subaru Loyale.

It's a 4AF, aside from putting an exhaust on it, there's really not much you can do to get "cheap" horsepower out of this motor.

Just my budget is extremley tight as it is now so was trying to find out a cheaper way other than swap or forced injection.

well with a 4af it won't be cheap as they said, the cheapest way to get power out of a 4af would be to build your own turbo kit, but you don't want f/i. So your out of luck. Even a preformance carb will run around 300, cams will be more than that. Then there's finding the stuff for it. You could always get the block and head machined down to get more compression out of the motor. put better pistions and larger valves with stronger valve springs as the stock ones only let you hit 7000, and the 91 hp we get fromt he 4af is right at 6300 rpm/
But those aren't very cheap to do. Your best bet would be to save your money and to swap in a 4age since your looking for cheap mod's

Well then you're shit out of luck.

Nothing wrong with the OEM pistons... I'm running them with forced induction...
Oh and good luck machining the block when the pistons get as high as block level... :P

The reason why my budget is so tight is due to haveing this car and 2 subarus one of which is getting a swap right now. But I might look into f/i in the future.
