Not even my car, I was getting paid min. to fix my neighbor's car. I changed the belt, I guess the bolt didn't get tightened that holds the belt tensioneer bracket down. 1 week later car is making a squeaking sound. I pop hood to find belt shredded and tensioneer bracket hanging on sideways. I guess bolt vibrated out untill the point it just broke off completely.
Bolt goes through tensioneer bracket and sticks out 1". That means the broken off piece STARTS 1" INTO that hole on the engine block.
Ahhhhhhhhh how to fix best? Remove passenger's tire and drill hole in the car's body so that bolt can be extracted with drill/easy out on long extensions? Have to pull motor to tap out bolt? Any other tensioning system I can rig up instead, easier?
I'm broke and now my responsibility to fix my neighbor's car...
I would recommend taking it to a mechanic and paying him to fix it before you make it worse. Have it fixed by someone who knows what they are doing while it's a small job.
I happen to be the mechanic who knows what I'm doing. lol
Motorcycle accident 2 years ago caused memory problem which you can see shows up sometimes on the bolt I forgot to tighten.
I drilled a hole in body with passenger's wheel removed. I'm lined up with the hole perfect. I have 1 extension, a 7/64" drill bit that clips into the end of it, and an EZ-out. On monday I can get 1 more extension, I'll be able to drill the hole and get the bolt out, and I can buy a new bolt mon. too.
In my garage at home I'm currently underway on a Mitsubishi 3000GT V6 twin turbo motor rebuild, that would be my 4th on that specific engine.
if you were my mechanic, i don't think i would appreciate you fucking up the job, keeping my car longer than you should have to fix the fucked up job, and on top of that drilling unnecessary holes into my car... kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth...

and as a side note, rebuilding an engine isn't as demanding of skill as doing custom engine component fabrication/modification yourself like flashmn does, so that comment was kind of pointless to add... just my 2 cents...

Bring on the custom fab.
There was the Audi auto-manual transmission swap I did, custom balljoint collars and transmission mount I fabbed.
Last summer there was the '02 Honda Nighthawk CUSTOM CHOPPER I modified the frame and drove all summer.
My 78 XL350 in the garage now has a ton of custom fab on frame/exhaust.
The 69 Chev C20 pickup in my backyard has a little custom fab on the transmission mount (I pulled a straight 6 out of one and put the V8 in the other truck), doing that work for someone else.
I broke about 4 Chinese motorcycle frames (we were importing them) from jumping them too high, kept busting the upper shock mount. I did some welding, re-inforced the design, and sent the pics off to the factory. Hensim 150/200cc dual sports being shipped all around the world are now imporved from my design upgrade.
My neighbor's on my side despite what happened and what some think. He says too bad and would be ready to front the $, I'm the one that says I'm so sorry my mistake and my responsibility till I get your car going again.
I'm a big car forum junky, ToyotaNation FTL thanks guys...
Don't wanna brag buddy, and I'm just a 22 year old punk. The jack of all trades type I'm not claiming super exellence in anything. Just won't let you think I'm a car AND forum newb.
Thats some exellent work I hold you in much higher regards for that flashmn.
why go thorugh all this hassle, just get a V6 or get a car that came with a V6?
All this trouble,, why not get an old Datsun 260Z or 280Z (they really ran well),,, or if anyone every drove the Capri V6, that was a real screamer...
These 1/6 Liter 4 piston engines are still lawnmowers with wheels.. even with turbos and cams..
If you are in another country, besides the USA, just find a way to get a small V6 in there..
screw these lawnmower 4 bangers..
we can't do that here with smog laws..
