4AFE Sensor

I found a sensor or something near the wiper motor and it is hanging.
Any idea what is this? What is the use of this

Maybe this could be the problem why my 96 corolla is consuming so much fuel.
However, there is no black/white smoke on the exhaust/muffler.

Do you know how to adjust this? There is a label L and R on top near the potentiometer, does L stands for Lean and R for Rich?

Is this the AFM?

How will I check if this is working? (There are 3 wires attached on it)

that is is it yes, you adjust it to either L or R but dont do it your self, you need someone with a decent gas analyzer in the exhaust to get the ratio at its optimum...

its not the AFM...air flow meter looks something like this

our engines dont run AFM but MAP sensor
