New with a question.

Hi everybody, I'm new here and had one particular (and kind of strange) question about our families 97 Corolla. The box thing between the seats (not sure what you'd call it) where you keep cd's and the like has been broken somehow. We want to either replace it or remove it as it has pretty sharp edges where it's broken. I've searched online and don't see a replacement anywhere, so I'm not sure if it can actually replaced. I looked for some way that it could just be removed, but I can't tell if that's possible. Maybe someone who has more car knowledge than me can give some input. It's just kind of bothering me and I don't think it's safe to have that sharp broken plastic between the driver and passenger seats of the car.
Thanks in advance.

Do you have the center console piece that sits at about elbow height with a hinged lid? This was an optional extra and should fasten down to the base center molding with a couple phillips screws through the bottom, although I've never tried to take mine off. You may have to hit up junkyards to find a replacement.

go to 1sttoyotaparts.com

put in your car info 1997 corolla for body parts catalog and then collision parts.

then click Console --> Front Console and then look for what you want from that sub-list.

if anything, click any part from the front console and click View Illustration and it will give you a diagram of everything in the front console. Maybe that will help you choose exactly which part you need.

I found them in there under the little carpet thing at the bottom of the box. Looks like it should come off.
PhatRoyale, the interior is tan/brown. I'm assuming there was only one tan or brown color for that year of the Corolla.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm probably just gonna mine out, because we never really used it anyway.
Thanks for the replies though everybody.

So far I've only been able to get one of the screws out. They're a real pain in the butt to unscrew, and the last 2 I haven't even been able to move.
