On My Second Corolla

My new Corolla is a 2007 model and I just passed 20,000 mile mark on my odometer and still have plenty of brake shoe to go. My last Corolla was a 2003. I remember that I got 40,000 miles on my original shoes and then had to replace every 20,000 miles thereafter. Looks like I have the same question this time around.

Why do the original shoes from the factory get 40,000 miles, but no matter if you buy the same Toyota parts at the dealership. You will only get 20,000 miles thereafter.

I want to buy another set of shoes that will get 40,000 miles. Any suggestions???

Huh? 20k thereafter? This is based off of one instance correct? Brake shoes as in the rear or brake pads as in the front? My 03 S went 60k with about ~40% life.... Take a pic of your pads.

pads that last 40,000miles will be worse in braking power than pads that last 20,000 miles....
if you're so cheap that you cry about things like this, buy a bicycle or ride a bus.

If I was you I would've waited for the 10th gen Corollas to come out, you went from a 9th gen to a newer 9th gen.

As for the pad wear, must be something you're doing yourself, maybe you're taking it easy on the car for the first while, then once you know you've broken it in, you may be going a little more wild on it.

You are such a jerkoff. All I did was ask for advice.

Are you having your rotors resurfaced when you do your pad change?

Multiple instances. My 03' Corolla had 175,000 miles on her when she was totaled by a drunk driver. The factory installed front brake pads were replaced at 40,000 mi. The Toyota dealer parts were replaced at 60K, 80K, 100K etc.

There is no difference in the way I am driving the car.
