AE86 Slide!

I can poorly drift now.

It's taken me a while but I've finally been able to get my AE86 to drift. To be honest though my problem all this time has been the tire set up. I used to have sports tires all around but found it can get sideways quite easy if I just have sports tires in the front and run cheap winter tires in the rear.

I dont get it, you guys seem to be more concerned about the setup of the car. Really we've been doing slides in anything you can barely call a car, lada 2105, etc. And the car has been the least of the worries.

I don't understand this 86's are hard to break free. I've had no issues with the 86's I've drivin.
It's harder with gripy tires, but safer since it's harder to lose it.
The key with something thats underpowered it get momentum and you'll use your steering more than the thottle to inciate the drift. Slow drifts will be harder.

Ya but my skill level is minimal at best so I find this works best for now. On top of that grippy sports tires are expensive and I don't want to be ripping those apart and replacing them. So cheap winter tires ain't so hard on the wallet.

Why winter tires though? I would put all seasons on it rather than winters. Get used tires for when you drift, thats the cheapest way to do it and put the good tires on for normal driving.
