next year the corolla will outsell the camry for the first time and take the crown of best selling car in america.corolla was only 5,000 units behind in may. in fact they sold more corollas in may than scions in the first five months of 07.corollas also outsold the whole lexus brand in may.also outsold toyota pickups.the only reason the camry is still ahead is its new makeover compared to a five year old corolla bodystyle.with the new body style next year the corolla will smoke em all.the only thing that might mess this up is if the corolla hatch is given the auris name like in europe then they will be counted seperately. in australia the new hatch is also called corolla.i think that's how they will do it here too.the auris recently won a comparison test against the civic hatch,golf,focus and others at autobild magazine in germany.it is stunning.

i read elsewhere on this site that toyota just came out with a similar projection for 09 sales(that corolla will eclipse camry) anyone have this link?

am i to gather that you guys frown on posts involving predictions on sales?perhaps you could give a rats ass about future sales?it seems significant to me that the corolla is poised to become americas best selling car.i thought that other corolla owners would like to discuss this. if it is inappropriate here perhaps you could direct me to a site where it is o.k..

I don't think sales are relevant to most people here, most people here post about mods, problems with their cars, etc.. Most people have different priorities I guess.

But haven't there been hatch back Corollas over seas for some time now? Or you just talking about the new version that came out and will finally be sold over here?

the new hatch is called auris in spain,germany and england,it is called corolla in australia.it got great reviews from "autobild" in germany but not so great from "what car" in england.(toyota.com.au)has specs like what us version will likely be.
