Hey my name is nick and im only 15.. im trying to get started out into the driving world . And im really interested into getting a older corrolla ae86 :P.. and im trying to research on it it,, wether i should get the corolla or the old FC rx-7, but i heard they engines on the rx-7's are just a big pain in the ass :'(. I also luv how the ae86 looks ..

so i got a couple of stupid questions but hopefully you can answer them if you can!

-What are all the engines that will fit in the ae86?
- What years run for the ae86 chassis or w.e?
- Is the engine swapping hard to do in a ae86?
-Is it low costing to maintain and upgrade a ae86 ??

well thats all i can think of right now its 3:11am where i am at right now so if these questions are weird, or just stupid, or make no sense.. im sorry

Welcome to TN. As with any car, the art of engine swapping will require some deep pockets. Most common swaps on an AE86 AFAIK are:

-4AGE 20V
-4AGZE
-3S-GE/GTE

Those are probably the easiest to perform. The AE86 was made from 1985-1987. As with any 20 year old car, you'll have to replace parts and deal with rust problems. Parts are rare to come by. So is a good condition example that hasn't been abused. So it wouldn't be wise to for a purchase as an only car.
