free flowing cat

Heres a small mod regarding a catalytic converter...
Starting point, a brand new in the box magnaflow stainless cat with 2.5" in and outlet.

After some small modification..

...to be continued.

As continues.

So I make a pipe with some holes in it

Then I migged it inside the cat after filling it with glass-wool

Tadaa and I have a free flowing muffler that looks like a cat.

Are you putting in place of your cat or going to use it as a muffler? I'm confused on which your going for, a REALLY FREE FLOWING CAT, or unique looking muffler lol

If it's for the muffler I don't see the point

Putting it in place of the cat to use as a muffler. Therefor I'll have the cat underneath the car, but instead of it being a cat it will be a muffler and the guy who inspects the car wont fail it due to lack of a catalytic converter. (must install one if you add a turbocharger on post 1987 cars)

ah, here in Canada ae92's all have cats, even if they are N/A. It's a fine here if you don't have one. mom's friend was telling me he put a hockey stick through the ones he had on his Transam lol

Well the emissions dont change, they still are 3.5% CO and 600 PPM HC. And no our AE92's dont have cats, they only started getting cats with EFI in 90-91.

Not really gains, but I'm planning on more dampening with this. Not to mention if I'll run my car rich I'll kill the cat in no time.

yeah, and cats aren't anything special to look inside, like a honecomb type of thing...

Maybe I'll get my car E-Tested and do what you did, should be my car's last e-test unless they change the laws on 20 year old cars not needing them.
