03 Corolla almost blown engine

Hello all. I'm new here and I need help. I have a 2003 corolla s type. The car was doing fine for a long time. At 62,000 miles the engine is about to go. Why in the world is this going on? This is a toyota. Thats not suppose to happen. The car is paid off and no more warranty. The dealer said that the oil is not going where it suppose to go. Is this a common problem? The oil changes were done on time. Now I need an engine. Where can I go for a new engine that won't cost me 4000.00. If not, then a used engine with low miles at a good junk yard.. I'm in san diego, California. Thanks all for your time.

I did nothing but drive normal. Had my oil changed. And now it's making a crazy noise. No engine light,, no oil light and there was oil on the dip stick. The dealer said the motor will go soon. I don't know wow this can happen. The car is stock, never been raced.

Almost blown engine...? What are the compression/leakdown numbers? Maybe you have a malfunctioning oil pump or something like that.

The standard powertrain warranty is I believe 5yr 60,000. You are close enough to that mileage figure that I would contact Toyota customer service at the 800 number and complain to them. Toyota engines are built to go many more miles than that. If you have your receipts from your oil changes to back you up there is no way any engine replacement should be charged to you. I also suspect your oil pump may be defective. In addition to calling customer service I would try out another Toyota dealer in your area. In particular one who would make a policy adjustment to get this fixed under warranty and without cost to you.

I agree with 90 GP, it could be a problem that started over time, it didn't just happen all of a sudden, I would haggle Toyota to get this replaced that close to the Warranty.

There is no Type S Corolla BTW, it's a Corolla S, no "Type" in the name, it's not a Honda
