Unhappy instrument cluster backlights out!

1995 toyota corolla

Hey, I replaced my stock radio w/a new one and now when I turn on my headlights my backlights on the instrument cluster and the HVAC area don't turn on.But the interior dome light works fine

Checked: fuse boxes, the light bulbs and yes I checked the dimmer switch & even tried putting the old radio in.

Should i take out the dashboard and keep looking and is it possible I yanked on the wiring harness?

i know this sounds weird, but check to see if your tail lights work (the red lights that turn on with the headlights).

the cluster lights are commonly on the same circuit as the tail lights for some reason. Tail lights out would indicate a ground fault somewhere in the dash...most likely in the radio you just installed.
