Tranny fluid or not?

Another question yet again. As you can see im not very good with cars

Sometimes when im on the highway, or around town, my car will shift, BUT, it will shift with a jolt. and also....when i stop and the car is in drive, and i put in in reverse and hit the gas, the car doesnt instantly go back. i press the gas and then it realizes its in reverse and jerks backwards. i was told that this is a sign of my tranny fluid getting old or just having to need it be changed.
is that true?

i was also told that if my tranny fluid was perfect, i wouldnt be shifting this way.

keep in mind i have an automatic.

thanks

-aaron

i would go by colour rather than anything else it should be a pinky red, if it brown or black its time for a change then follow the guidelines in the owners manual

might be low on oil. Though our benz does think quite along time if I shift from D to R.
