Unhappy seat belt & engine lights

Help Please! I just got my car back from a person that bought it from me. They decided that they didn't want it. Now the Seat Belt Light and the engine light stay on all the time when the car is running. Is there anyway to get them to go off? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I smell a scam. I mean if you already sold it to them and got the money. I would of refused to take it back, because quite frankly if someone comes and says "here take your car back, I dont want it anymore" I would smell something fishy. Especially if there is something wrong with it when they brought it back. They probably gave it a really bad run around town.

Toyota corolla

The car was my Moms, but she got another car. The payments On the Toyota Corolla were taken over, by my father-in-laws best friends daughter>, she made payments on time for about 4 months. Lost her Job. Gave the car back to my mom. But I am glad she did, because my mom gave ME the car. It runs Great, but its just those Darn Lights. .....If I could learn how to get the codes it would be appreciated..... Thats what the question was.

Does anybody knows what/where is the sensor for the driver's seat-belt ?
It happens that I have the almost the same problem. My engine light went on first and two days after the seat-belt.
I took to Toyota Dealer, for the engine light they told me to change the catalyser, that was what the code was indicating, for the seat belt light, they told me to replace the seat belt. The problem $600.
I am driving this way for more than a year without any problem, but having the light on it is annoying.
I check the fuses for the seat-belt, all they looks good, I remove the plastic collumn where the DRIVER seat-belt it is, I disconnect and reconnect the pieces that could look a sensor, it didn't work.
The seat belt problem started interme intermittent, if I pull and realeas the seatbelt a few times the light was turned off. That is why I was looking for sensor problems on the collumn.
For the catalyser, one day only, two months ago. I turn the car on and the light was off, and it ran like this until I park, when I start the car again the light was on.
Is that toyota corolla manual that they sell on Pepboys good ? Can I trust on their instructions ?

Alright I went and looked at it. I'm not going to replace the whole seat belt so. On Toyota Corolla 1998 I took of panel covering seat belt on drivers side. Has two plugs going into belt harness. One yellow one white. The yellow on has a metal clip holding it on, that is the air bad one so leave alone. White one is seat belt light, unpluged and jammed small U shaped piece of paperclip into contact holes and taped up. Good enough for me, no more blinking light
