The Celica GT has a slightly different ECU tuning and a higher redline (6600 rpm as opposed to 6200 rpm, I think). The 5 speed gear ratios and final drive on the GT are a bit shorter than the 1ZZ-FE Corolla to give it more peppier acceleration.

I realize I can't get the gear ratio, with out getting a new tranny, but (and Im probably wrong) wouldn't the ECU play with the air/fuel ratio?
im thinking that the corolla ECU would be for economy and the celica ECU would be for higher horsepower.
It will be a lot of work since the harnesses might not be the same. Given the fact, you will gain only 10 crank HP (around 7 whp), it is not worth all the effort. You are better off dyno tuning using Camcon or Hydra. With proper dyno tuning, you can expect up to 15 WHP of power gain through tuning the VVT (around 17 - 18 HP at the crank). It would probably be a little more effort, but atleast worth it.
The final drive and gear stack swap would be more feasible at the cost of some gas mileage, but it will cost quite a bit to swap the tranny out.

How could I tune the ECU withCamcon or hydra? Is that something that I could do myself?
also, If the Celica ECu and the Corolla ECU uses the same harness, will it work? If I understand, the transmission is controlled by it's own computer.
Depends on how hands on you are and how dedicated you are. Research your tuning devices, take a basemap and fine it that way. Camcom is different from Hydra. One is priced in the lower hundreds while the other is priced in the upper hundreds to thousand. It all comes down to how much money you have.

Bolt ons with tuning on a 2zz I can see getting 15+whp but for a 1zz the gains are minute.
The 1zzfe from the corolla is a basic easy to install engine swap with minor differences. One sensor plug is not the same and you have to close one hole on the cooling metal hose under the intake. Now if you want the 143 hp from the gt, thats were the hard part begin. You will need the ecu, engine wiring harness and the harness that goes in the car. Because yes, the celica have is computer under the hood and the corolla is in the car. And no, they don't have the same computer... Corolla have 3 plugs and is located in front of the shifter. The celica gt is in front of the battery, under the hood and have 4 plugs.
I did the the swap in my 2000 corolla. Now I'm missing the wiring that goes in the car to complete my setup. Right now, it just run like a corolla...
