Whats this sensor for?

SO the other day i was changing out the fuel filter in the car and i removed the airbox to get better access and notice this sensor just laying underneath it. At first i thought it went into the airbox but nothing there and couldnt find anything it would go into. Here is a pic of it.

Check

Check the air box cover or under the air box cover or the intake arm...

ok. looked today and notice a hole on the back side facing the firewall. I didnt even see it there and i had the whole filter box out looking all over it the day i swapped out the fuel filter. The car seems to be running a little better as well since it is in the correct area.

Thanks

Guys
