Complete Sound System Overhaul

This is my first post to this forum, and I have found advice here to be invaluable with my '96 Corolla DX.

I'm looking to replace the head-unit, the (4) speakers that are still factory (2 front, 2 rear).

I've purchased these Polk speakers from Circuit City, and was hoping to install it myself.

I looked them up on CrutchField, and it says that size-wise, it should work.

I've also purchased a cheap headunit that I think should serve my needs, but it only puts out 160 WATTS. Should I go with something that puts out more WATTS, or get an AMP?

my headunit is here

I only have the (4) speakers, and the headunit.

I understand I have to buy a speaker harness so the connections would fit.
Would I need the harness for both the speakers and the headunit?

I know this is one long post, but any input would be greatly appricaited!

Doesn't sound like you're after a pounding major upgrade, so I think it'll work out fine. You'll prob want the harness adapter for the headunit that plugs into your factory harness and has the color coded wires that'll match the new headunit wires. You may want to check how much amps the new headunit draws and that it doesn't exceed the factory harness. I see the headunit has rear RCA out so if the setup isn't adequate for you, then you could easily add on an amp. The way I have my setup is headunit is driving front speakers, additional amp is driving rears, and one more bridged mono amp driving a bass tube.
