I just bought this corolla a week back and i have a question..
Firstly here are the specs... I and the car are located in the U.S. so its a left hand drive and has an automatic transmission.. Here is the question which may sound kinda stupid .. The headlights are ON even during day time and i dont know how to turn it off.. The left side lever for the light is in the off position.. But still the light is on while driving. But when i turn off the engine and remove the key while i park somewhere, the lights turn off. Its only when i drive the lights are ON.. Can somebody help me here..

Thanks guys, but what kinda safety feature is that... Looks weird especially when ppl keep telling me "Turn off your light, Its broad day light" !!!. Anyways if thats how it is supposed to be then its ok..
BTW i bought it last week, Its a 2001 Corolla LE, black, and i've posted some pics of it in the "pics" thread if any of you wanna have a look.. And i'm located in Princeton, NJ.
I'm assuming you (and the people telling you to shut the lights off) haven't bought a new car since the early 90's, Daytime running lights is a safety feature that has been around since 1990, all cars built after that year are supposed to have this feature built in, you can disable it yourself but it involves cutting wires and things like that.
The feature makes it easier for people to see an incoming car in the opposite direction while driving against the sun, during heavy fog, etc.
Ha ha actually this is my first car so i'm new to this concept.. But i used to rent cars from enterprise and those cars never had that feature.. I've never seen the lights on these vehicles "ON". I've driven a Kia Sportage which is a 2005 model SUV that i rented out from enterprise recently and during daytime the lights were always off.. Same is the case with Rio, Saturn Ion, Chrysler 300M etc. All these are the cars that i recently rented out..
But anyway if its a safety feature and thats how its supposed to be then so be it.. Great.. I dont have a prob..

It's been required in Canada since 1990 yes, but not in the US.
