New speakers

If I choose to replace the speakers in my car, but not the deck/receiver, will my factory deck/receiver be sufficient for the new speakers? I'm going to run Boston Acoustics SX series through my 2007 Corolla S. Thanks.

i don't have specific knowledge of your car, but in general, yes the stock reciever works fine.

in fact, you probably wouldn't even notice a difference between the stock receiver and an aftermarket unit. People usually replace the receiever first...but oddly, that makes the least difference in sound quality. lol.

You can put the new speakers on an amp (i think you'd just wire the amp onto the accesory line on the reciever, plus the appropriate power cables to the battery and such), and run the stock HU indefinitly for a slick stock appearance with outstanding sound.

What's interesting is that the factory speakers have 6 ohms of resistance, instead of the standard 4. I wonder how my new speakers will respond.

If they're 4ohm they'll draw more power from your headunit, that's weird though; most cars use 4ohm speakers. 6-8ohm is usually for the home theater/stereo speakers.
