Store gave me a different clutch master cylinder - OK to use?

I'm replacing the master clutch cylinder on my daughter's '95 Prizm and the part from the store is different from the one that was on the car. It's missing an intermediate piece (looks like some kind of cylinder but I don't know what it's for) but the overall length looks like it will fit.
Can anyone tell me if it's OK to use the new part? The old part is on top in the photo and the new one is on the bottom.

Thanks!

Murray's Auto Parts. They were my last choice because nobody has it in stock locally and I wanted to get it installed this weekend. 3 out of 4 times Murray's always gives me the wrong part.

if you're concerned you can just swap the pin assemblies out..... they're only held in by the rubber boot

ouch. well i would check under a 95 corolla instead of 95 prizm. some times that makes a difference. I wouldnt risk it putting that in. I would like to new parts to look just like the old piece. unless you can just take off that piece from the top part and put it on the bottom. That or go to Toyota since there basically the same car

Over all length looks the same. Often "no name" parts will look a bit different.

WHat is that intermediate thing? None of my Corollas have it (older year). What does it do? Does it have something to do with the clutch starter safety interloc?

Great suggestion! The rod and clevis assembly is held in by a snap ring so I just put the old assembly on the new master cylinder. I think I could have used the new part as is but it didn't take a lot of effort to swap parts.

The clutch seems to be OK now. The problem was that sometimes the clutch wouldn't disengage and it was also engaging just off the floor. I replaced both the master cylinder and the slave cylinder. I replaced the slave cylinder first but that didn't fix the problem. Anyway just took the car for a drive and the problem didn't occur. The clutch seems to grab a little higher, not right off the floor, so that's probably a good thing.

Hey, great forum. From just a little bit of searching there seems to be a lot of knowledgeable and helpful people here. My daughter's car used to be her grandfather's and it's only got 58,000 miles on it. I guess with 12 years on it there are going to be issues with some of the rubber bits. We've also owned an '87 Nova and '90 Prizm, both great cars. (Yup, I work for GM ).

Now, if I can just find the engineer who put the master clutch cylinder behind the brake booster.

There aren't any wires attached to it. The Chevy dealer wanted $160 for the part (I paid $50 for the aftermarket part) so that cylinder must be used for something!
