Question AE102 - Reskin rear quarter - Is it worth it?

I bought my '95 'rolla in pretty much the same condition it sits in now. The previous owner had a close encounter of the guardrail and ditch type and totally trashed the driver-side rear quarter and front & rear bumper struts. Fortunately, the main structure held up well enough to where the car still tracks straight and doesn't eat tires every few months.

When I first got the car, I did some casual quote gathering on how much it would cost to repair the rear quarter of the car. The quotes I got ranged from $500 and up. I was in college at the time and couldn't affort to think about that much for a "cosmetic" issue, so I never got it fixed.

I'm out of college now and still broke (darn student loans ), but that beat up driver's side is really getting on my nerves. My 'rolla is now the main car in the family since my wife's POS '95 Escort is systematically falling apart (go figure). My wife hates my car because of how ugly it is right now.

So, my question is this.... What are my options with the following degree of damage? (Images link to larger versions for more detail)

I'd like to get away without spending a bunch of cash. I only paid $850 (total) for the car, so spending a lot on cosmetics wouldn't make much sense.

Suggestions?

Oh, I'm not a mechanic or a body man, but I've been turning wrenches for almost 20 years now, so, with some guidance on where to find "how-to" info, I'm not afraid of bustin' my knuckles to get the job done.

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

JM
