Question Left signal blinking fast sometimes....fuse...lights or wires?

Hi Everyone,

My 2001 corolla seems to be getting to that age..where everything starts to go south!

Problem:
When i signal left...the everything works fine. However, sometimes the dash signal light will make a fast blinking sound and not display a light....the light also does not display outside the car. After about 15 seconds...the signal light will start showing again and return to a normal blinking rate.

Question:
Could it be a problem with a fuse? If so, do i change the fuse under the hood? What fuse would that be for a 2001. The manual is not really clear on which fuse is for the "signal lights". Sorry, noob here

Fuse box under hood:

Tasks Completed:
1) Changed front signal light (Do not fix the problem)

To Do:
1) Change back signal light

A bulb not blinking is causing the fast blink as you've noticed. A blown fuse would cause your blinkers not to work, so that's not the problem. Changing the blinker bulbs like you are doing are the first things to try, loose wiring is the next most probably cause.

most likely, whats causing your blinkers to flash fast is your bulb blown out. i had the same problem in my car and later in my brother's car. once you replace the bulb (which shouldn't be expensive), the problem should go away. if the same problem (a big IF) comes back, have the wiring checked out.

my car does that sometimes because the contacts on the right front turn signal has corroded due to the lense being broken. If water gets in thats what happens. Try by just replacing the bulb are first in the front and rear on the side that blinks fast

Have you ever replaced the turn signal bulbs before, and if so, what wattage lamp did you use?
One of the connections is either rusted or fried.

Well i just checked all 3 lights at the "BACK LEFT" and they are all working. I changed them and still the same problem continues.

Have you ever replaced the turn signal bulbs before?
- The only lights i replaced are the headlights (low beam) about 5 months ago.

TO DO:
1) Check connections (rusted or fried?).
2) Check the wattage on the blubs and make sure they match the manual.
3) Check wiring.

What would i look for if checking the wiring?

If nothing else works, maybe you're out of blinker fluid.

its gotta be either a flasher, or a bulb problem, i vote bulb problem change the bulbs on the side in question, and use dielectric grease on all outside bulbs fillamints can fuse together and cause weird problems, also corroded sockets and loose contacts. also try gently bending the terminals in the bulb sockets to hold the bulb firmer
