Question Gauge cluster question?

will a MPH gauge cluster work in a corolla if its got a KMPH gauge cluster?
*the cluster is from a 99 w/tach, i want to swap it in a 98 wo/tach

also, could i take the spedo unit from the canadian cluster and swap it into the american cluster so the spedo will be in KM?

I don't think that will work.

However, my cluter on my 2001, has both MPH and KMPH.

I live in Jersey, So my car would be in MPH naturally. Since your in canada, your is calibrated to KPH.

However, Im not sure if the calculation is done in the ECU, of somewhere in the gauge cluster itself. If it is done in the Cluster, Youare ok, if in the ECU, your in trouble.

The range of the speedometer should be the same either way; 0-110 mph. Or whatever 110 mph is in kilometers. The only difference would be the way the face is labeled; the needle is in the same position for the same speed regardless of whether you care about mph or kph.
