Only the 1.6L 4AFE's come with the 3spd, if you got the 1.8L 7AFE then you have the 4spd.

Sounds like you're hitting the speed limiter, although I thought they were limited to 110mph or so.

timing or compression wouldnt make the car just stop at 90mph.

Unhappy

But that dosent make any sence. It used to go passedd 110. It used to go passed it on the dash. and corolla has a rpm limiter not a speed limiter. any more guesses?

Maybe you broke something by hitting max speed too much.

Do they have an OD button on the shifter? I'll have to check my dad's car, he's got a 94 AE101 with the 7AFE 4spd, I never noticed if he had an OD button or not, if it doesn't then maybe 4th gear has been disabled somehow.

Unhappy I dont know...

well the fluid is ok. I hecked and changed it. I do NOT have overdrive. I do not hit the rpm limiter. i know what it sounds and feels like. that not it. I dont think its the speed limit because its only 90 miles per hour. do you guys have any other ideas? timing? do i really really need a gun for it for can i do it another way. ... i just dont really know why it does this and i hate it!

thanks everyone for helping me out but please keep the ideas coming! thanks!
