Just have fun with it and rev it up whenever you want to have fun up to 8400 rpm. The fun all lies above 6000 rpm. Although, be careful in upshifts and downshifts since it is important for synchros and prevention of over-revving.
Switch to synthetic mobil 1 since it reduces friction and heat when the car revs high.

just brought car home last night so no pics yet. but it looks just like silver04rolla's just witout the light covers. The car is in great condition not a scratch on it. who ever had it before me really took good care of it. The interior is in perfect condition as well. the car looks brand new.
am I the only one that the reverse beep drives crazy? i know why it's there and agree that the car should have something like that so you don't drive through wall in your garage. it just makes feel like I'm driving a garbage truck when i'm backing out of my driveway. other than that the car is fun as hell to drive. i drove a rav4 for the last few years. the two couldn't be more opposite from one another.

Trust me, with reverse gear being right next to 1st, the reverse beep will make you thankful for it one of those days on a traffic light if you accidently put it into reverse instead of 1st.

^ so is it that easy for the reverse to go in like a 1st gear? i thought they would at least have one of those "you have to press down then push to gear" reverse. correct me if i'm wrong.

1. Switch to synthetic oil and don't switch back to dino oil, I dig Synthetic Moblil 1
2. Get rid of your stock intake....a Short Ram, like the one that K&N sells for $200, will add 12 HP and allow you accelerate much better. Stock you will have trouble going up hills and maintaining a speed in 5th and 6 th gear, with the new intake you will feel much more powerful and sound better. Or you can get an Injen cold air intake but you have to take your bumper off to clean the filter. I had the Injen but got so annoyed that I switched to the short ram intake from K&N, I like it a lot more and can't tell a power difference.
3. If you lower your car don't use cheap springs (I had trouble with my Tien springs) go with quality like Eibach or TRD
4. Enjoy your car, take it to the drag strip and beat modified hondas and acuras, they'll be pissed that a 4 door Toyota beat them, especially if you are stock.

This is no joke. All 2ZZ XRS dynos bonestock at 150 - 153 whp and always over 161 - 164WHP with a cold air intake. I have posted 3-4 back to back owner dynos on the exact same day and dyno.
What is the reason? Nothing magical. Only because if you look at the airbox, Toyota cheaped out (for fuel economy, emissions and sound muffling, most likely) by putting the exact stock airbox designed for the 6200 rpm 1ZZ on the high breathing 8400 rpm 2ZZ XRS, which becomes too restrictive over 7000 rpm. Celica GTS came with a different stock airbox.
BTW:
Cold air intake: better for pulling cold, thick air from outside, bad if you live in a place with big water puddles (hydrolocking).
Short ram: better because of no fear for hydrolock, bad because of heat soak caused by heat generated in the engine bay.

Get the car pay off first....you'll thank yourself in the LONG RUN....so save money and pay off the car, instead of dropping little mods here and there......
A year or two ago Flashmn contributed greatly to a CAI thread, claiming all dynos are made up and that anyone who thinks an intake makes a difference is a moron....
edited to add: The dyno link I posted must be madeup as well, as are all other dyno sheets, because if it were true then Flashmn would be wrong and that is impossible!

Reverse is way to the left and up, to the left of first gear, and there is an annoying beep beep beep alarm to let you know. You'd have to be pretty dumb to accidentily go backwards instead of straight.
