toyota ecu dump?

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if it is possible to dump the rom inside a toyota's ecu? Its just that i have a spare ecu but not the same model as that i am using. I was wondering if there is anyway to read the one that i have on my car and write it to my spare ecu to make it the same (so that i would have a spare) or even a modified ecu for my car.

I have seen a link to a japnese guy who i think says he could read toyota ecu's. Then he has posted some schematics about his reader. Its not clear though what it does since everything is written in japanese. If this schematic was indeed a reader/writer it would be interesting to construct it.

On my understanding the toyota cpu/rom are all integrated in to one chip making it difficult to read since not much data is know about the toyota ecu cpu.

By the way my car is a 95 toyota corolla with the stock 4afe engine auto tranny.

But there is a japanese guy who has designed a reader for the toyota ecu. Although you would have to desolder the cpu and plug it in that device. The only problem is it was made a couple of years back 2002. I don't know how to use that if ever i try to construct the reader. Could anyone help? From my understanding he has successfully re-mapped the ecu using that device. Looking at the device it seems that it copies the rom from the cpu to an onboard eprom so that you would be able to read the rom from a regular eprom burner.

Although i a am not sure about this, its just my speculation. I tried to email the guy from the site but not replies, don't know if he knows english or he has abandoned his email.

Is there anyone good in softwares/hardware here that maybe can help me out. I think it would be great to have this device. I have downloaded the schematics and everything is written there including the parts and the actual pcb layout as well as the photo of the actual finished device.

Although there is no instruction how to use this device.

TechTom is one of the company that allow Toyota ECU tuning. It still use the ECU chip.

A photo of TechTom in 5S-FE ECU:

Most CPU with EPROM do not allow read back of the program. You can flash new program in but can't read the program out. For the manufacturer, there is no need to read the program back at all. Some will even erase the program if attempt to read.

If you can share the schematics, maybe someone here can translate it.

i have seen that adapter

Hey i have seen that kind of a set up. I think that adapter is similar to a 3sgte stock ecu. So there is a way to add an eprom to standard ecus. If that came from a 5sfe then it might also work for my 4afe engine. The only problem is rom might not be the same for my 4afe. The problem here in our place its really hard to find these kinda stuff. Here in our country we are way delayed interms of efi knowledge. I have just recently been interested in modding ecu's not much offer them here. I hope someone can help me.

Wow techtoms erased the number on the PLLC chip they sure don't want to share there secretes hehehe

I wonder if techtoms made that adapter themselves or they just took it out of the 3sgte ecu. Eveything is exactly the same. i have a pic of that adapter on my pc. I just don't know how to upload it here I have emailed the japanese guy who made the reader. You are right pineapple he also said that the reader would only dumps the rom inside the toyota cpu. But it wont be able to write anything to it. Probably read the stock rom for analysis to make rom mods with the piggy back eprom. Plus that adapter is also in his site. you can probably check it out there.

By the way thanks for the pic Pineapple.

hey i just went to the japanese guys site again, he does have the schematics for that adapter. you can go to his site and download the pdf here http://kaele.com/~kashima/car/index-e.html. its is the same as techtoms the picture on pineapples 5sfe has also a model number ty64a on the board.

so thats why the japanese guy had that adapter it was meant for piggy back fot the toyota ecu.
