4AC to 3tc Swap Question

I recently purchased a 1980 Corolla with a 4AC engine and would like to swap in a 3TC. Can anyone let me know if it is a direct bolt in or what I would need to do the swap? Would I need new engine mounts and tranny mounts or would I need to do some welding?

Are you sure yours is 1980? For generation 4 corolla, 1980-1982 are come with 3TC and 1983 are come with 4AC (Unless the previous owner swap it to 4AC). For a 4AC to 3TC swap (for minimun modification, just bolt on), you need a 3tc cross mamber, radiator and a steering rack from a 1980-1982 3tc equipped corolla. You might need to emission control computer if you want to pass the smog.

It used to be a site for 3tc to 4ag swap (in this case you just need to work backward) but I can't find the site anymore.

There's TE72 (3TC powered) and AE72 (4AC powered) Corollas in that generation, the AE72s are somewhat more rare than the TE's.

I don't think they're a direct bolt in so you'll most likely have to mod the engine mounts to bolt the 3TC.
