Hello all. I signed up to share my experience and also for this to be out there just in case it happens to someone else. I have been posting at Corolland since this happened and a friend of mine suggested that I post on here too to raise awareness. This is the link with the entire story from day one:

Cliff notes - My mom's 2004 Corolla LE with 66,000 miles grenades its motor due to a bad timing chain sprocket wheel. The teeth on the wheel become ground down and the wheel comes off the camshaft throwing the timing off, bending the valves, destroying the heads and pistons. Vehicle is not under warranty (expired at 60K) and request is made to manufacturer to pay at least 75% of replacing entire long block ($6,800) with OEM production motor as the car is only ~4 years old with 66k miles and this should not happen with a Toyota motor. After alot of haggling with really bad customer service, they say they will pay 50% and no more.
If anyone has had similar motor failure, please let me know.
Thank you.
