2000 Toyota Corolla CE Tachometer?

I have been giving myself a headache trying to find out if I can put a tachometer from another corolla in my car... Do I have to wire the tach to the ECM or is it already wired in the harness? and is there a way to put my mileage in the new cluster?

Your car should have the necessary extra wire for the tach already built into the plugs for the gauge cluster.

As far as I have read, since your mileage display is digital it is stored in the car's computer and should simply transfer over to the new cluster.

The digital mileage is stored in the gauge cluster. If you swap the gauge cluster you will also swap mileage. However if you carefully unscrew the speedo from your stock gauge, you can swap it and thus take your mileage with you.

uhh hey i was able to install the tach and it works great i was even able to replace the speedo with my mileage but when i replaced the speedo taking it apart i took off the needle and now when i drive it seems as if i am going 20 when it says 30... is there anything i can do to see if its still ok or if i am still traveling at the right speed?

why did you take off the needle? the speedo unit unscrews from the back...

I did this swap and it took about 5 minutes total...except I ended up having to rewire my harness to make the turn signal work properly (it was switched with the defroster for some reason).

uh anyway, recalibrating the needle is not easy. see the second to last post in this thread
