'93 prism/corolla stalls at idle, won't start without holding throttle partially open
Neighbor's kid bought their first piece of poo car. '93 corolla with 1.6 engine/auto. Asked me to replace timing belt and tune up. Car is bone stock with little preventative care that I can see.
Upon taking his keys, my scanner pulled these codes:
12, 24
12 pickup coil, no spark
24 Intake Air Temp sensor (connector was loose, haven't tested it yet for ohm range)
Replaced Distributor (faulty pickup coil, 200,000 miles, big surprise)
New Plugs
New Timing belt.
cap/rotor
New valve cover gasket kit
He mentioned it was rough at idle, but hasn't had the car very long.
Any thoughts as to any common sensor that may be bad? vacuum leaks etc? TPS?
I've got to check fuel pressure still, but I'm doubtful its an issue. plugs were wet prior to distributor R/R. Engine had no spark prior to distributor/coil replacement. Car will run fine once off of idle and underway. Immediate stall when foot is off accelerator.
Any ohm specs for testing components would be appreciated.
Trying not to just throw parts at this thing, kid works at fast food joint. He drives 5-10 miles a day, so justifying a big budget for parts is hard. A/C is his main desire to have a car, he rides his bicycle in the fall/winter. I have Alldata.com info dor car, but it's not very intuitive for this year/model. I've gotten complacent on OBD II systems.
