seems like everyone is telling you to go for you haha...gunmetal would look really nice. if you want some gunmetal wheels, you can probably ask somebody to paint them or powder coat them for you. if you know a friend or somebody who is willing to do it and actually knows how to do it properly without charging you a lefty fee, you should really do it.
i can understand why you wouldn't want to lower the car, but a set of springs from eibach or other reputable company do have springs that will lower the ride without killing ride comfort. 18s will fill the wheelgap, but would that give the suspension enough space for compression and movement when you drive over bumps? a drop of an inch shouldn't make the ride unbearable would it?
oh and another thing, would you happen to know the specs of the tires? are the tires 215s, 225s, or maybe even 235s? i saw a mustang where it was running some really low profile 225s on 18s wheels without any lowering springs and it just looked funny. it was 98 mustang, so you know you could fit 235s or 245s (or if you are crazy enough, 275s =D) on 18s or 19s or 20s and it would look so aggressive. so my concern is, make sure the tires are wide enough so when they are mounted to the car, its gonna look aggressive and siiick from the front and back.
for a strictly comestic suggestion, i think if you blacked out the tail lights and bought some headlamps with the carbon fiber inserts inside the headlamps with some blue colored or HID lights, your car will look aggressive and clear an open path at nighttime. haha
