I got my ae92 in 1998.. so I think that was way before anyone mainstream started doing up ae86's, now they are way more common, before noone had an idea what a side draft carb was or a 4age.. all we knew what that option magazines kept showing these old boxy looking cars racing.. And personally my tastes on the ae86 have matured alot.. I really like that classic mature man;'s race car that has the potentional to be very fast.. and handle nice too.. not to mention a stable chassis, 4a-ge f1 characteristics, and RWD!
my ae92 has been looking pretty much the same since i had it, and now people tell me it looks like a car that raced right out of initial d!
anyways, older cars just have a hell of alot more character than the obvious civic/integra.. etc
I bought my AE86 not too long ago, just when the hype was really starting to grow in Toronto with the second and third stage. Whelp, I've been more or less a Corolla enthusiasts since who knows when?
Probably around four years ago, when I started to learn to appreciate cars other than Honda Civics.. Including old vintage cars from the 1940's and let's not forget the Ford Mustang GT350 from the muscle car era.. one of my personal favourites!
I still have an Option drift contest from 1993-1994 and I laugh everytime I watch it. I use to wonder why this team of drivers, called ICBM (still VERY popular today), drive this old Toyota into drift competitions. And now guess what? I'm owning one.. and I use to think that they are ugly too? Haha
LANCIA STRATOS! Oh, a very beautiful machine indeed! Sometimes Speedvision broadcast rally competitions back in the days on Legends of Motorsports and I love watching the Stratos. Oh yes, let's not forget the Mini Coopers. They've earned a great name in the world of motorsports.
Come by my place anytime and pick up the VHS. You'll like it! It gets boring near the end but you get to see a whole train of AE86 smash into one another. Hahaha, the beauty of drifitng in a group - if the first person messes up, the rest of the guys following are toast!
I got my white AE92 first 3 years ago. We rebuilt the whole engine using an imported Jspec 4ag with 40K's. A year after I was buying my Red AE86 which we prepped for rallying (rollcage, rebuilt Jpsec engine, bilstein susp.) Then last year I bought the gray one. It was owned by one of Qubec's top rallyers Daniel Martin. He rebuilt the whole engine 2 years ago and this one too is prepped for rallying but no rollcage.
5 months ago I found a connection in Japan who got me the whole Initial D series including the movie. All I can say is that I'm hooked! This show rocks!
See ya!

Hey Corolla 90, you gotta come to one of our meets in TO. Ben drives over when he has time. Maybe you guys can have a race from Montreal to here. :grin:
In the alternative, maybe we can work out a road trip to Montreal to visit Ben and Corolla 90.

I'm SUPER, thanks for asking;
All things considered I couldn't be better I must say.
I'm feeling SUPER, no, nothing bugs me;
Everything is SUPER when you're...
yoo.....i got my-self a Ae86 too...but the motor has 300 000km on it.....i think it'll blew soon......how much does it cost to buy another newer engine like you said those 40k Jspec engine!?!? thx....
the engine will and can last pretty loing.. the 4age is a tried and tested bullet proof combination with guys in japan and hk racing them to redline every weekend.. just do oil changes regularly, plugs and cap and rotor..
you can race the thing until the engine blows. but then again, you got to be careful for your clutch and tranny!
omg!@!! nick? me too!! george's really something eh.. i wanted it ever since i sat in the passenger seat w/ him driving! haha yea i'm the one who took the black ae86 off him.. but sitting beside him in the ae86 was really something...
yerah...me and a buddy went to TAS in 99 and we saw akira's $100,000 ae86 and a grip load of other sporting mis matched rims and goodline front bumpers...but we were never really hardcore into drifting then....i even stole a sticker off of tarzan yamata at the option booth!!!
its not till i got back home did i realize that the ae86 is the car of choice!
