'95 Corolla starts on second try

I have a '95 Corolla 1.8L that always starts on the second try from a cold start. It will turnover but not start. Somes it does start on a warm start but only if it has just been started or driven. I have replaced spark plugs, cap, rotor, air filter, and a new starter. I'm thinking it could be the fuel filter or the battery. What do you guys think?

TIA!

do you wait for the fuel pump to prime before cold starting?

you can usually here it whirring in the back for 5 seconds or so when you turn the ignition to "on". Maybe wait for it to finish before turning the ignition all the way.

My 92 sentra won't reliably start unless I let the fuel pump prime before starting. I don't think its anything to worry about...just old cars doing their thing.

more then likely the battery. also check the wires to the starter also. go to a parts store and have them check on the altenator just in case.

Maybe your cold start injector is giving a weak spray on the first crank. Have you tried using a fuel injector cleaner? I also agree to wait a minute when turinng key to on prior to turning it to start to allow fuel line to pressurize. If mine fails to start on first attempt I hold pedal down a small ammount on second attempt and it always fires right up.
