Yeah, that's about right for a 6".

The factory 5.5" are +18

If you want to run 7" wide +10 to +20 works.

All depends on what tires you want to run too. 14x7 supra wheels are +8 and will rub slightly on the front with 195/60, you need to run 185/60 or 195/55 tires.

I run 6.5" wide with +7 offset and 195/60/14s and it's very very tight. On really hard corners when braking hard, the kind I take only at the track or in solo2, I get the slightest rub, on the street never rubs.

hey, half an hour with some tin snips and we'll make those suckers fit too

I was thinking that is about the max width and offset you could fit on the back with a bit of fender lip removal  and then some 15x7.5 up front about -5 with the fender lip removed too, maybe a little of the aluminum bat fender spreading might be in order too

ya, a real battle look!

I think 15x9J -13 offset would be maximum in the rear like this horny picture of the Hayashi Racing Street wheels alas you probably have to use 205/45/15 rubber:

I also heard there's a trick you can use..something about using MA60 hubs, lower control arm and spindle to fit deeper offset wheels by pushing the centerline of the wheel closer to the body of the car. This was a post on Club4AG about two years ago, so I don't remember.

i don't get how the offsets work. negative means pointing out (wheel towards the fender), or positive??

that silver coupe with the Hayashi's is bad ass, I figured out how to replicate his flares *I think* I spotted an old, used to be very common car with similar shaped flares that could be massaged on to the AE86, but that's super top secret (not), but I'll tell ya later when I find a good pic of one.

Sam, negative pushes the wheel further away from the car, positive is opposite. As a general rule, if you don't want any chance of rubbing +12 to +25, no wider than 7" is pretty safe, and 195 width tires.

Massaging is just as hard as welding on a new set, buy no means is it stock anymore. I'd say max wheel on stock that you can squeeze is 8", and that will probably require folding the lip or grinding it away.

I think I'm going to do a dennis and buy the lightweight black circle track wheels, 7" front, 8" back, any offset ya want, under $40 U.S. each. These things are steel so they aren't very light, but not bad for steel, about 18lbs... and who cares if ya rub them up against a curb at that price.
