Nuke the XRS reverse beep

Pretty simple mod. Only one screw involved. Take the bezel off from the gauge pod. One screw right in the middle. Then disconnect the harness on the left side of the top of the pod. Cut the red wire with the black stripe and all is completed. Wrap the ends of that wire with tape to avoid a short later, or just wire an LED to it to notify you in quieter ways that you are in fact in reverse. That is, if moving backwards under power isn't a big enough clue already.

You did not have to do that. There is a cheat code (sequence of pedal dance, holding the key etc.) to disable the beeper.

Yes, but since nobody seems to post the magical 'up up down down b a b select start' code for the beep, I had to find another way. If I want it back (not likely) then I can always reconnect the wire. I spent ten minutes trying to figure out the code for the seat belt chime disable. It was much more satisfying to just clip the wire than dance in the car. lol

Dunno. Not to me, for sure. I kind of like the beeping.

BTW, here is the cheat code to disable the reverse beeping.

Turn on the ignition and then wait 12 sec and then push trip meter button

It bugs me, so that's why I cut it off. To each his own I guess. I've been driving for a long time and I've never thought to myself, "Gee, I wish I had a beep to let me know when I was in reverse." Besides, I did the seatbelt thing to get rid of that beep and it came back today. I don't want the reverse beep ever coming back to haunt me. Clipped and done with.

You should have extracted the lead from the plug. A 1mm flat precision screwdriver is all you need and it's not destructive like clipping wires is.
