Coolant Issue

For last couple of days, coolants level inside my coolant tank was lowered even I had top up the tank couple of days ago. Anyone knows if there is a problem or should I consider normal?(I am sure no leak due to new radiator and new coolant host couple of days ago due to leak)

When you put in the new coolant, did you run the engine, and top up the level with the idle up? It takes doing this to ensure no air bubbles are present. You may have just topped it up due to that. Monitor it from now, to see what happens.

Check the Rad, not the bottle, the bottle is for overflow, if it was full, and now its not so full, it could be due to the above statement.

it might be that you have a leak. Check the waterpump housing gasket, it might leak from there.

If there is a leak, when its full, and running warm, you should be able to see it, just open the hood. What kinda car are we looking at here?

Not necessarily, mine only leaked when it was under pressure. I was just wondering why my radiator was empty, till I found the reason.

what wunderboy is explaining is how to bleeed the cooling system....make sure you turn your heat on to while doin this, it also opens up your heater core which is part of your cooling system..

headgasket can be the problem.. my old car had a headgasket blown at 225000 km.. is your exhaust like lots of white smoke? even if the engine is warmed up?

if so, it might be a cracked block (possibly), damaged cylinder head, or just a simple headgasket.

if you do the repairs yourself it'll cost about $300 bucks (what I did >> new gaskets, head bolts, rad hoses, fluids, oil, new filters, alternator (it was bad too)),.. (for a v6) .. assuming since it's an old car.. it should be around there because the parts are harder to find .. shops will charge anywhere from 800-1500 for this and it is somewhat of an extensive job.

I didn't do much....just flush the radiator and refilll coolant into it. Run the engine until it warms again...follow procedures as wunderboy mention....is ok now....except I hear some strange sounds when the fan is on.....try to use WD 40 to lubricate but still no use...
