Question Holding accelorater well shifting?

I was "driving" along side my friend on a two lane road and to say the least i was trying to pass him. I down shifted from fourth gear to third but my foot got stuck on the accelerator and my first reaction was to try to get it un-stuck but I already enaged the clutch and I was going to continue flooring the accelerater after the shift so i left the accelorator floored while i shifted into third and it gave me a substancial booste enabling me to pass him.

I've heard of people doing this before but, I don't know how much damage i'm doing to the car., if any?

Has anyone used this uhh ... i guess.... technique before and what are the con's if any?

"
Power shifting (a.k.a. speed shifting)

This is an advanced technique that gives a speed boost to the car when upshifting. This should only be used in racing applications (and probably only in very short races), as it is very hard on drivetrain components, especially if done improperly. Even done properly, it generally puts undue stress on the drivetrain, and shortens the lifespan of the driveline components.
To perform a power shift, keep the gas pedal on the floor (instead of lifting) while pushing in the clutch. At the same time, quickly shift to the next gear. Quickly re-engage ("pop") the clutch as soon as the new gear is selected. If done properly, the car will receive a "bump" in acceleration (due to the jerk of the decelerating engine) as the clutch is re-engaged. If done improperly, it can result in engine or transmission damage, sometimes catastrophic."

Okay thx wikipedia ... but if done properly how much damge could i do?

egine blowing up, burning the clutch, putting great stress on the gear and the drivetrain component, take a pick

don't do it .. Even if they do it in race cars.. Remmeber they rebuild their shit more often.

Stick with rev matching for down shifting.

Yep race car only needed to last 1 race. Do it if you want to change clutch everyday day after work. Or have a pitcrew follow you around.

That sounds like something from initial D.
