ae92 crappy design flaw

today i have just experienced extreme starter heat soak...

i didnt even drive the car hard but it was parked under the sun for around 2hr in the middle of the day(12-2) and the damn thing wouldnt start.

the voltage metre would go down when i try to crank it...i popped the hood, checked fuses, unpluged and repluged the ignitor....sat around and waited and crank crank(mind u, very weak), it started!

I havent had that heat shield for a long time and I live in the tropics, still no such problem on my car. Maybe you have something else wrong with your car. Could be a dying battery or something else.

correction, its more like 16V 4AGE design flaw

its same on ae86.....

anyway i think you should get some exhaust wrap, else eventually your starter will look like its fried KFC style (i got example if you wanna see )

sure there, a dying battery wouldnt give the results that i've posted above

it's nice and all that u live in the tropics and it never happened to you....but u dont have a 4age :p 4afe starter location probably is under the intake manifold....everything on the 4afe is everywhere else
