Thanks for the help guys. i took the head cover off yesterday. saw the shims.

By luck, managed to get another complete engine that has done half the mileage for next to nothing. am thinking of using that head instead. maybe it will be less noisy with the less mileage it has done.

I am also doing a compression test on the 4 cylinders this weekend, because the car setup is correct but the power on the dyno is quite low. Does anybody know what kind of compression i should be hoping to see for the RSI 20v?

Lifters? Rockers?
Ha, people on this site are so helpful .

If it's definatly coming from the head, What you are hearing is the VVT pulley, they wear out and start ticking.

It not a problem really, they still operate normally just tick at low revs.

It could also be bottom end noise (like one of my 20v's )

More like ignorant, probably never taken the valve covers off and just stating what they heard somewhere.

I was asking about bottom end because usually when you rev, the bearing problems on the bottom end stop.

Usually, mine still does but I doubt it will last mush longer.

Pretty much the only way to run bearings on a silvertop is to starve it of oil, so if that hasn't happened it'll be the VVT pulley.

Should see between 205 - 210 psi.
Although I have a cheap gauge so that might not be accurate.

As long as they are all within 5% of each other the actual number doesn't mater.
