Transmission problems so early? or is it a safety feature?

On my 01 corolla, Ive been having tranny problems...maybe...

When The engine is cold after it sits on a night below 60 degrees, the tranny wont shift into overdrive until it warms up. Is this something to be worried about or is this ok?

I have 55000 miles on the dot and never had a problem. at 30,000 i replaced the tranny filter and fluid, And my fluid level is A-ok.

Pretty sure thats totally normal. I remember reading that Corollas- at least 04's- wont shift into overdrive until the engine reaches normal operating temps. Some kind of protection deal.

Yep, normal. Most automatics do that.

I have a 2003 Tacoma (as well as a Corolla) bought it new. When it's cold in the winter it takes a long time to shift from 2nd to 3rd. The Toyota guy told me that this is designed in to protect the tranny. Once warm it shifts normally.
